Rod Streater, Oakland Raiders wide receiver, continued his “Where’s Streater?” journey, hosting children and families from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland – Diabetes Clinic for a hands-on “Healthy Thanksgiving Dinner” cooking demonstration created specifically for children with Type 1 diabetes. Specialists from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, American Diabetes Association and Whole Foods Market were on hand to share healthy recipes for a traditional Thanksgiving meal, while children made a healthy apple pie to take home. Participating families also received a re-usable bag filled with Whole Foods Market specialties and goodies from the American Diabetes Association. This event was held in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association’s national awareness campaign, “American Diabetes Month”
